BIA-MA offers not only support groups and information and resources, but also conferences and educational workshops and trainings about brain injury prevention and other topics. This fall, beginning in October, BIA-MA will host three different educational workshops for survivors, caregivers and family members. See the options below.

REDUCING THE RISK – PREVENTING FALLS: ($5 per person)

Presenter: BJ Williams, Manager of Prevention Programs, BIA-MA

BJ Williams is a personal trainer and three-time Iron Man Tri-athlete who will teach participants how to build strength in their lower extremeties and core muscle groups to reduce the risk of falls. Through strength training and education, participants will learn how to protect themselves from falls and how to respond and adjust to their environments.

Presenter: Barbara Webster, Support Group Leader Liaison, BIA-MA, and Author of Lost and Found, a Survivor’s Guide to Reconstructing Life After a Brain Injury 

Memory problems are often the #1 issue following a brain injury.  A good memory involves much more than simply writing everything down.  This interactive workshop will explore multiple approaches to help participants maximize their memory!

CASE MANAGEMENT:  ADVOCATING FOR YOUR LOVED ONE: ($5 for Survivors, $10 for a Family Member/Caregiver)

In this interactive workshop, participants will define their needs, network with others to share resources, create an advocacy plan, and learn how to become an effective communicator on behalf of a loved one with a brain injury.
