This year, the 32nd Annual Brain Injury Conference will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 from 7:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlborough, Mass. This unique state-wide brain injury conference is geared to medical professionals, survivors and family members. Each year, we gather at the conference to celebrate Brain Injury Awareness month and to discuss the challenges facing professionals, survivors and family members by educating ourselves on the developments in the brain injury field.
Whether you’re a medical professional working in the field of brain injury, a survivor, caregiver or loved one, there’s plenty to interest all attendees. With nearly two dozen educational workshops, this year’s conference will feature sessions on a number of topics from alternative therapies and chronic pain to compassion fatigue, substance abuse and case management. The conference keynote speaker this year is Dr. Carolyn Roy-Bornstein, who will discuss her memoir Crash, A Mother A Son, and the Journey from Grief to Gratitude. Dr. Roy-Bornstein, an author and pediatrician with over 15 years of experience, will describe the balance between being a mother grieving for all her son has lost and a physician determined to turn tragedy into opportunity. Publisher’s Weekly calls Crash, “a remarkable testament exploring one family’s journey through a medical nightmare and a new beginning.”
